Vicary's paintings are masses of hanging colour, explore movement in many directions - they seem to hover, to exist away from the plain.
Vicary's work invites the viewer not to stay grounded - to take off, escape through a window, emerge among the treetops into a different kind of space. A luminous, suspended space, a space with no horizon, up in the air or under water, in which the gazing eye can roam into multiple directions.
It seems consequent that this area of fixing points and free space is inhabited by birdlike shapes bursting forth like colorful explosions.
Just looking at them seems to lift barriers and limitations, like a gust of air passing through the mind, leaving clear space and unknown possibilities behind. There is just one thing you can do: Follow the pull of attraction into this hovering world and just wait, and breathe, and see.
